The Enneagram
Opening the Heart of Compassion
Sharon Berbower Presents a Nine Week Series of Panels
Interviewing Speakers for the Nine Personality Styles
New Day & Location
The Enneagram of personality is a profound spiritual and psychological teaching for developing a compassionate understanding of oneself and others. It describes nine personality types and how they perceive the world in their own unique way.
Each type is presented according to the characteristic habits of thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviors that make up its distinct views of reality. When people are more fixated in their type they operate out of self-protective and limiting ego defenses rather than allowing a deeper trust of self to emerge.
The purpose of the Enneagram is not to stereotype ourselves as a "type," but to learn to see past the veils of personality to the essential self that is authentic, spontaneous and free. This class is useful for people interested in personal development, as well as those in the helping professions, business and education.
Sharon Berbower, MFT, is a psychotherapist in private practice in Berkeley, where she has studied the Enneagram for over twenty years. As an adjunct professor at John F. Kennedy University, she has taught graduate courses in the Enneagram for fifteen years. Sharon has presented at several International Enneagram Conferences, led workshops, and served as a coach in Helen Palmer's Professional Teacher Training Program.
