The papers included in ‘Collected Papers’ cover the period of 1981-1987 and as such demonstrate the transition from David’s earlier practice to what has come to be known as ‘narrative therapy’. It includes the first published paper(1986)- ‘Writing Your History’ of work in 1985 that is unequivocally narrative therapy.
‘Collected Papers’ was David’s first major publication. It was published as a companion to Michael White’s ‘Selected Papers’ by Dulwich Centre Publications in 1989. Both books, although very significant to the history of their respective practices as well as Narrative Therapy itself(in fact, Collected Papers includes what arguably is the first Narrative Therapy Paper(Marisa Revisits/includes ‘Writing Your History, pps. 128-136), have been out of print for some time. Cheryl White and Jane Hales of Dulwich Centre Publications have generously returned the title to David. He has had it scanned and made it available free of charge.
